Sugiyama Jogakuen University accepts foreign students as exchange students in the following cases

Under the exchange program, students who are currently studying Japanese language at their home institutions can continue their studies at our university, and Sugiyama students can study abroad at one of the partner institutions. The participants are able to receive credits at their home institutions for academic work done at the partner institutions. Sugiyama students can study for one year at a partner institution, giving them the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the culture while studying a foreign language and specialized subjects. Exchange students from the partner institutions live at the school dormitory, and mainly study Japanese language and Japanese Culture at the Center for International Exchange Programs (CIEP). Also the home visits organized during the weekends help students not only to improve their Japanese language skills, but also gives them an opportunity to experience everyday Japanese life. In addition exchange students can take part in a number of extracurricular activities along Japanese students to experience Japanese culture.
The internship program offered since 1999 allows exchange students to utilize their knowledge of the Japanese language in a practical way by working at local establishments.
