A Multinational Journey: An Intern's Experience at Our University

In December of last year, our university had the privilege of hosting an intern, Cillian Flood from the University of Education in Freiburg, Germany. This exceptional young man, an Irish native with a wealth of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching experience around the world, brought a unique perspective to our campus during his two-week stay from December 11th to December 22nd.

Mr. Flood came to our university as part of his Master of Education program. His goal was to gain valuable insights and practical teaching experience by shadowing our esteemed English Professors. His international teaching background was truly impressive, having previously worked in EFL classrooms in Poland, Thailand, China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

During his brief yet impactful stay with us, Mr. Flood actively participated in various aspects of our university community. He attended classes, engaged with students, and observed our professors in action. This hands-on experience was invaluable in helping him refine his teaching techniques and broaden his pedagogical horizons.

One of the highlights of his time with us was his involvement in the Global Language Lounge. This vibrant space on our campus serves as a hub for cultural exchange and language learning. Mr. Flood’s presence added a unique flavor to the mix, allowing our students to interact with someone from a different cultural background, fostering an environment of global understanding and appreciation.

December brought with it the festive season, and our intern was not left out of the celebrations. He joined our annual Christmas party, sharing his own cultural traditions while learning about the Japanese way of celebrating this joyful holiday. This cultural exchange was a testament to the power of international connections and the enrichment it brings to our community.

Hosting Mr. Flood from the University of Education in Freiburg, Germany, was a truly enriching experience for our university. His presence reminded us of the importance of embracing diversity and learning from individuals with different perspectives and backgrounds.

In conclusion, the international teachers of this department were delighted to host Mr. Flood to help him to enhance his teaching skills and knowledge. His time with us showcased the power of global connections in the field of education. We hope that more students and interns from around the world will consider joining our university community in the future, as it is through such exchanges that we continue to grow and learn together as global citizens.
